Cabinteely Gospel Group (CGG) have been singing since the group was set up in September 1999, with over thirty members of all ages, coming from both the local parish and further afield.

CGG love to blend Gospel music covering styles from a traditional Soul and Blues-style Gospel, from artists such as Aretha Franklin through to Country Gospel to the 90’s and 00’s “Hip-Hop” or “Urban” Gospel of artists such as Mary Mary and Eva Cassidy. They also enjoy singing songs from Rock and Pop artists who have released chart topping tracks with spiritual themes including Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Beyoncé.

 

Musical Director – Kate Fahy

Kate has been an integral part of the Cabinteely Gospel Group since joining in 2004 at the tender age of seventeen. She studied music at University as part of her teacher training and soon took over the role of Choir Conductor.

As well as being a national school teacher, Kate was also a choir leader with Corus for three years and ran an after school Glee club for children. She has sung in a Soul/Motown band as “Katie D and the Rhythm Section”

In 2017 the choir were delighted when Kate took over the role of Musical Director.  Amongst her many talents, Kate not only sings but plays the violin, guitar, recorder and bodhran. She is an accomplished song writer and is responsible for the arrangement of beautiful harmonies for the group as well as conducting at Sunday Mass.
